I've been off the meal planning wagon for awhile now and have just been winging it! Well, I'm putting an end to that today! I want to stay on track through December so I figure I would share what I have set for this next week. The colors represent the 21 Day Fix meal plan based on my calorie level- so feel free to adjust how you see fit! I'm all about keeping it simple because let's face it, with 2 kids and a full time job, I don't have much time to make elaborate meals! Let me know what you think- and please add any of your favorites in the comments below!
Wednesday: I get up early, workout, go to work to teach, pick up my kids from my cousin, take them to my mom's, head to Canisius to teach lab, back to mom's to get kids, home to my husband who is walking in the door, relax for about 10 minutes, do baths and get the kids in bed by 7:30. Phew. I made it. We made it. And the best part is that the kids LOVE every minute of it because they get to see their most favorite people in the world each day.
Most days I ask myself why I don't sleep in those extra 30 minutes, or why don't I save some time at night and skip packing my lunch and just buy whatever is being served. But I know why I do this. It's clear as day! My kids and my husband are my why. They are the reason why I need to take that extra 30 minutes to keep myself healthy. They are the reason why I pack my lunch so I know I'm feeding my body right to keep up with everyone. Sure, some days it is downright hard to do it all. My kids are barely 13 months apart and run us ragged but we wouldn't have it any other way.
I don't want to be exhausted, crabby, feeling guilty that I ate yet another cookie or fast food meal because I said I didn't have time. I refuse to let these old habits be passed down to my kids. I want to be able to run around with my kids, play hide and seek, be present and active for them. And the only way I can do that is to work on myself. I need to be selfish for just 30 minutes because it's a ripple effect. And, they are worth it. I am worth it.
I used to use my kids as an excuse. "I don't have time to cook, they get too busy at dinner time that I can't possibly cook a healthy meal" or "I can't get to the gym-no place for the kids" and "I worked a long day, no time to pack a lunch, I will buy pizza tomorrow". Well, goodbye excuses! I'm DONE with you! It feels so good to finally feel good from the inside-out! It can be done and it truly is easier than people think- if you need help or guidance with your journey to focusing on your health, let me know and I would be honored to help :) We can do this together.
I'm a wife, mom of two rambunctious boys with a new baby girl, a middle school science teacher and a health and fitness coach. Oh...and a huge bird nerd.
